Barcelona and Man Utd on alert after Antoine Griezmann admission

Barcelona and Man Utd on alert after Antoine Griezmann admission
Antoine Griezmann scored for Atletico Madrid at the Emirates on Thursday night
BARCELONA and Manchester United have been put on alert as Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has revealed he is unsure where his future lies.
Barcelona are happy to meet the Frenchman's £87million buy-out clause this summer, whilst Manchester United are expected to renew the interest that they showed last year, according to the Sun.
Griezmann revealed that he is uncertain where his future lies, and refused to commit to playing in Madrid next season.
He said: "If I'm going to continue at Atletico, I don't know, we'll see.
"We're talking to the club to see what can be done."

Zidane's luxury is Heynckes' nightmare

Zidane's luxury is Heynckes' nightmare
The sheer ferocity of a Champions League semi-final is taking its toll on both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, however it is the LaLiga giants who are far better placed to deal with a swell of injuries than their German counterparts.
Injuries have arrived like London buses for Bayern since this tie was drawn, Arturo Vidal falling foul of a knee injury before a ball was kicked with Jerome Boateng's season also being ended thanks to a hamstring complaint in Wednesday's first leg.
In addition, Arjen Robben is a doubt for the return game with Javi Martinez unable to train following a head knock.
As for Los Blancos, Dani Carvajal is definitely out of Tuesday's rendezvous at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu whereas Isco is a doubt, both players having been withdrawn midway through the trip to Bavaria.

Arsene Wenger makes Jose Mourinho plea ahead of final Old Trafford trip as Arsenal boss

Arsene Wenger makes Jose Mourinho plea ahead of final Old Trafford trip as Arsenal boss
Arsene Wenger hopes to get a good reception at Old Trafford this weekend
ARSENE WENGER has begged finally to be allowed one last peaceful trip to Old Trafford – although he admits Manchester United clashes are not what they used to be.
Yes, it is Wenger, the "specialist in failure" and "voyeur", against "out of order, disconnected and disrespectful" Jose Mourinho.
"When you give success to stupid people, it makes them more stupid sometimes and not more intelligent," Wenger once said of his rival. That sort of thing tends to stick.
But going into this clash between two teams 16 and 33 points off the lead respectively, when those coals are raked over ahead of this last trip to the Theatre of Dreams, he asks disarmingly for a bit of perspective.
"Will I be friends with Jose? It depends," he grins. "I respect him a lot of course. You should give me a little bit of peace for my final weeks, don't push me into a final confrontation. I want to go peaceful and Mourinho as well, he's a great manager."

Liverpool vs AS Roma - Jurgen Klopp vows not to heap pressure on his players

Liverpool vs AS Roma - Jurgen Klopp vows not to heap pressure on his players
Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool’s chance to reach a Champions League final should not be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The Reds face Roma in their first semi-final in Europe’s elite club competition for a decade but their manager stressed he will not be building it up to be all-or-nothing for his players.
Klopp said: “I make the pressure higher? I tell them it’s the only chance you ever have in your life so use it. Would you love to hear that before a game?
“(It’s) not a once-in-the-lifetime chance. I am already for the second time in the semi-finals and if I go, I will be the second time in the final. That’s pretty rare.”
The two clubs have significant history, with Liverpool having beaten the Serie A club at their own Stadio Olimpico ground in the 1984 European Cup final.

Mo Salah facing religious dilemma if Liverpool go all the way in Europe

Mo Salah facing religious dilemma if Liverpool go all the way in Europe
Devout Muslim Mo Salah must decide if he should fast during Ramadan
MO SALAH faces a religious dilemma if Liverpool reach the Champions League final.
Salah is a practising Muslim and the Islamic festival of  Ramadan, which requires fasting  during daylight hours for a month, begins on May 15  — ten days before the Kiev showdown.
Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, has given permission to Salah and his international team-mates in the Egyptian squad to postpone their fasting in the days building up to the World Cup.
But Salah and his fellow Muslims in the Liverpool dressing room — Sadio Mane and Emre Can — will have a decision to make if the Reds reach the final: risk their physical condition by denying themselves food and drink, or fail to observe "sawm" (fasting during Ramadan), one of the five pillars of Islam, for the sake of football.
And there is no reason to believe Salah, whose name means "worship" in Arabic, will go against his faith.
He admitted in 2014 he had found observing Ramadan difficult to combine with pre-season training at Chelsea.
Salah said: "Ramadan was a bit difficult for me because we had two training sessions every day, the weather was very hot and I played in every game.

Breaking News: Senators Call For President Buhari’s Impeachment

Members of the Nigerian senate this morning moved a motion for the impeachment of President Buhari.
According to sources, the senators moved the motion because the President did not seek the National Assembly’s approval before the withdrawal of the $496 million used for the purchase of aircraft from the United States.
Section 143 of the Nigerian constitution provides for the removal of the president from office. Senator Matthew Uroghide who moved the motion for the impeachment, said President Buhari’s move was a violation of the Constitution and thus, he should face the consequences. He prayed the Senate to invoke Section 143 to start the impeachment process of the President.

Arsenal's Bellerin slams Daily Mail as 'click baiters'
Hector Bellerin has hit out at the Daily Mail after the UK newspaper claimed the Arsenal defender was involved in a training ground bust-up with team-mate Alexandre Lacazette.
The Mail published an online article on Wednesday covering the Gunners' open training session ahead of the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid.
The report suggested Bellerin and Lacazette "squared up to each other" having clashed when contesting a high ball and featured pictures of their apparent confrontation.

Mourinho suggests United were 'not prepared to win' before his arrival

Mourinho suggests United were 'not prepared to win' before his arrival
Jose Mourinho has suggested Manchester United were not "prepared to win" before his appointment as manager in 2016.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss won the EFL Cup and Europa League within a year of succeeding Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, becoming the first United manager in history to lift a trophy in his debut season in charge.
United are second in the Premier League table with four games to play this term, having drastically improved on the form that saw them finish sixth in 2016-17, while last Saturday's 2-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley sealed their place in the FA Cup final.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger shares his biggest REGRET as he eyes final European glory

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger shares his biggest REGRET as he eyes final European glory
European success has always eluded Arsene Wenger at Arsenal
SOME people may worry that, for Arsene Wenger, the Europa League is the last throw of the dice when it comes to keeping his legacy intact.
The Arsenal manager, however, plays for much higher stakes than that and it is not so much the next few games that worry him as what lies beyond.
"I am a bit like a guy who plays Russian Roulette every week and suddenly has no gun anymore," he said. "I don't know now how addicted I am. I will see how much I miss that gun."

THE RISE OF BAYELSA TO A FORMIDABLE INVESTMENT HUB

1-Governors-Office,-Yenagoa.jpg
Governor's Office, Yenagoa
The last six years have witnessed rapid socio-economic and infrastructural development in Bayelsa State under the watch of Governor Seriake Dickson. The Niger-Delta state located in oil-rich south-south Nigeria is now ready for local and foreign investors to tap into its abundant resources.
Bayelsa state, south-south Nigeria, is beginning to consign to history the moniker of one of the least developed states that had always been its lot; a state lacking major developmental amenities and infrastructure. Today, the narrative is changing markedly; it is now the fastest developing state in the country. Carved out of the old Rivers state, October 1, 1996, by General Sani Abacha, the name Bayelsa is an acronym of three former local government areas, Brass, Yenagoa, and Sagbama. Its lack of development contradicts the enormous great wealth it is sitting on; the state has the largest crude oil and natural gas deposits in Nigeria. In stark terms, Bayelsa is the state that lays the proverbial Golden Egg - about 40 percent of Nigeria's oil deposits lie underneath it landmass - but sadly doesn't get to eat its white and yolk.
Before the coming of the present administration of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, Bayelsa has hardly had any political stability. Its first democratically elected governor was unceremoniously impeached. The next left to become the first Nigerian president ever to come from the south-south political zone. There was a third governor who had electoral credibility issues.
Their impromptu departures and lack of continuity may have had a major effect on the development - that is the lack of it - in the state although this is not to imply that these past administrations didn't make contributions to the state's development. However, the massive physical and social transformation currently ongoing in the state stems from strong political stability that the state previously lacked.

Michael Cohen says he will plead the Fifth Amendment in Stormy Daniels case

Trump Tweeted "Attorney-client privilege is dead" after FBI stormed the offices of Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen. But what is that and how does it work? We explain. USA TODAY NETWORK
President Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen says he will plead the Fifth Amendment in the case brought by adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Cohen made the assertion in a signed statement filed in federal court Wednesday.
He said in the filing he would assert his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination because of a criminal investigation targeting him, which led to his New York office, home and hotel room being raided by federal agents earlier this month.

VA nominee Ronny Jackson dished out opioids, wrecked vehicle while drunk, colleagues say

WASHINGTON — Current and former colleagues of Navy Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson have told Senate investigators that Jackson repeatedly drank on duty, has an “explosive” temper and garnered the nickname “candy man” among White House staff because of his prolific prescription practices.
At a Secret Service going away party, investigators reported, Jackson allegedly got drunk and "wrecked a government vehicle."
One nurse said Jackson, President Trump's nominee to be secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, also wrote himself prescriptions, and when caught, he directed his assistant to write them for him instead. He also provided a "large supply" of Percocet, an opioid medication, to a White House staffer, which sent medical staff "into a panic" when they couldn't account for the missing medication.

Zinedine Zidane: Still plenty of work for Real Madrid to reach final

Zinedine Zidane: Still plenty of work for Real Madrid to reach final
Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane insisted progression to the Champions League final is no formality after his side won 2-1 in Wednesday night’s semi-final first leg at Bayern Munich.
Two high quality opponents produced numerous uncharacteristic errors, with Joshua Kimmich beating Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas at his near post to give Bayern the lead.
Marcelo equalised after 44 minutes, after Bayern had lost winger Arjen Robben and defender Jerome Boateng to injury.
And half-time substitute Marco Asensio struck after 57 minutes, capitalising on Rafinha’s sloppy pass, to give Zidane’s men the advantage ahead of next week’s second leg at the Bernabeu.
“We’re very satisfied with the result, but we had a lot of problems in the first few minutes trying to take control of the game,” Zidane said.
“The tie is far from over, it’s more than possible that Bayern could win in the Bernabeu, but we are very happy to have won 2-1 in Munich.”
Real won 3-0 at Juventus in the quarter-final, but Juve drew level in Madrid and the Spaniards prevailed only after Cristiano Ronaldo’s stoppage-time penalty. That will be used as a cautionary tale by Zidane.
“We know that the tie cannot be over after one leg,” he added.
“After the Juventus match, we know we’ll need to approach the Bayern result differently, otherwise things could go badly for us.

Sergio Ramos returns to lead Real Madrid

Sergio Ramos returns to lead Real Madrid
Real Madrid will take on Bayern Munich with their captain back in the line-up, after Sergio Ramos had to miss the second leg of the quarter-final against Juventus.
It was clear in that match that Los Blancos' defence was weaker, with the team suffering at every aerial duel and with Mario Mandzukic scoring from two crosses into the box.
As well as that defensive drop-off, Ramos was missed for his leadership skills.
Real Madrid lacked a player who could drag the team forward through what was a tough moment, until Cristiano Ronaldo was able to do so right at the end and save the day.

Liverpool are not Barcelona – Klopp cautious of Roma comeback

Liverpool are not Barcelona – Klopp cautious of Roma comeback
Roma's superb comeback against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals means Jurgen Klopp is taking nothing for granted.
Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool are not assured of a place in the Champions League final despite leading 5-0 against Roma in the first leg of the semi-final before conceding two away goals.
A sensational individual performance from Mohamed Salah, who scored a first-half brace and produced two assists after the break, built a 5-0 lead at a deafening Anfield on Tuesday.
But, after Salah was substituted, Roma scored late away goals through Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti, ensuring a repeat of the Giallorossi's stunning 3-0 home win over Barcelona in the last round would send them through.

Man City dismiss claims Stones up for sale
Manchester City have dismissed reports of plans to sell John Stones.
The Mirror says City have no intention of selling John Stones this summer.
Reports have claimed the Premier League champions would consider selling the England defender, whose game time in the second half of the season has been limited by injury and increased competition for places.
But it is understood City remain happy with the progress the 23-year-old centre-back has made under manager Pep Guardiola and do not want to lose him.
Stones, a £47.5million signing from Everton two years ago, impressed in the first half of City's title-winning campaign but has not featured regularly since suffering a hamstring injury in November.

Defeat at the hands of the Spanish club in last year's quarterfinal still stings and vengeance will be top of the agenda when the sides meet on Wednesday. Win, and a second treble is within touching distance for Bayern.
"It's a new season, a new year. What happened last year is in the past," insisted Robert Lewandowski ahead of Wednesday's semifinal showdown in Munich. "It's not on our minds," he added of last year's defeat, defiantly. It was almost believable, too.

Why are so many priests in Mexico being murdered?

The murders of two more priests in Mexico in the last week raise questions over why church leaders in this devoutly Catholic country are increasingly being abducted, tortured and killed.
Mexico is now considered to be the most dangerous country to be a priest, according to the Catholic news agency Crux Now.
The Rev. Juan Miguel Contreras Garcia became the 23rd church leader killed in a string of violent attacks since 2012 and the fourth priest murdered in Mexico this year. He was shot down in his parish on Friday night as he listened to confession in the western state of Jalisco.
