Ignoring Isco nothing personal, says Solari

Ignoring Isco nothing personal, says Solari
Santiago Solari insisted his decision to leave Isco as an unused substitute in a 2-1 win at Real Betis was nothing personal against the Real Madrid midfielder.
Isco was benched despite Solari being without Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez, Toni Kroos, Marco Asensio and Marcos Llorente for Sunday's visit to the Benito Villamarin.
And even when striker Karim Benzema had to be substituted at half-time due to a fractured finger, Solari instead gave a LaLiga debut to B team striker Cristo Gonzalez.

Juventus want Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri

Juventus want Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri
The Brazilian left-back only arrived in London in 2018, but could be on the verge of a return to Italy.
Juventus have made contact with Chelsea over the availability of Emerson Palmieri, Goal can confirm, with the Italian side keen to land their man in the January transfer window.
It is understood that the Serie A champions are eager to buy the player outright, with left-wing-back Leonardo Spinazzola ready to be loaned out to Bologna to make room for the Brazilian.
The 24-year-old has featured sparingly for the Blues since his arrival from Roma in January of 2018, taking in only 7 league Premier League appearances as Marcos Alonso continues to be preferred at the left side of defence.

Guardiola tells Manchester City players to ignore Liverpool's calendar

Guardiola tells Manchester City players to ignore Liverpool's calendar
Liverpool can stretch their lead atop the Premier League back to seven points, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is unconcerned.
Pep Guardiola wants his Manchester City players to ignore Liverpool's fixtures in the Premier League title race.
City narrowed the gap to leaders Liverpool back to four points on Monday with a 3-0 home win against 10-man Wolves, Gabriel Jesus on target with a brace before Conor Coady's late own goal.
But Liverpool host Crystal Palace prior to City's next game, so the Reds' cushion could again be seven points before Guardiola's side travel to managerless Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

Liverpool boss Klopp concedes Mane call was 'one of my biggest mistakes ever'
The German coach had the chance to snap up the Senegalese star during his time at Borussia Dortmund but missed out on a player he holds in high regard.
Jurgen Klopp considers missing out on Sadio Mane during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund to be "one of my biggest mistakes ever", but the German has been able to right those wrongs at Liverpool.
Back in 2014, a Senegalese star was preparing to part company with Red Bull Salzburg.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United - Lucas Moura facing fitness test before United clash
Tottenham will assess Lucas Moura as they prepare to face Manchester United in the Premier League at Wembley.
The Brazilian missed the midweek Carabao Cup win over Chelsea with a knee injury and is a doubt to face the Red Devils on Sunday.
Eric Dier (appendicitis) and Victor Wanyama (knee) miss out, while Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele are back in training but not match-fit.
Manchester United are set to welcome back Paul Pogba for the trip to north London.

Vinicius a doubt for Real Madrid’s clash with Real Betis through illness

Vinicius a doubt for Real Madrid’s clash with Real Betis through illness
Real Madrid are sweating on the availability of rising star Vinicius ahead of Sunday’s trip to Real Betis with coach Santiago Solari already without a host of players.
The 18-year-old Brazilian has impressed for the European champions when given the chance this season and scored Real’s final goal in their 3-0 Copa del Rey win over Leganes in midweek.
However, the winger is struggling with illness and is a doubt for the trip to Seville, where Real are without the likes of Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Thibaut Courtois, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez through injury or suspension.

Rice takes centre stage for West Ham as off-colour Arsenal miss Ozil craft
Declan Rice scored his first career goal to fire West Ham to a 1-0 win over Arsenal.
The 19-year-old midfielder struck early in the second half to condemn Arsenal, who left Mesut Ozil out of their squad, to a fifth defeat of the season.
Marko Arnautovic was in the West Ham side despite having his head turned by the Chinese, but in the end it was Rice who delivered.

Leaders Liverpool back to winning ways after beating Brighton

Leaders Liverpool back to winning ways after beating Brighton
Lacklustre Liverpool ground back to winning ways to reaffirm their Premier League lead with a patchy 1-0 victory at Brighton.
Mohamed Salah struck his 14th league goal of the season from the penalty spot as the off-kilter Reds stretched their top-flight advantage over Manchester City back to seven points.
Liverpool failed to produce the kind of statement win to flex their title-challenge muscles following successive defeats to chief rivals City in the league, and Wolves in the FA Cup.

Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain's girlfriend Lara Wechsler is the latest Wag who heading to the Premier League

Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain's girlfriend Lara Wechsler is the latest Wag who heading to the Premier League
The AC Milan star's missus has been seen on several romantic getaways with the prolific Argie goalscorer, but loves to keep a low profile
SHE'S quite the enigma.
But for a few photos, we'd hardly know who Gonzalo Higuain's missus, Lara Wechsler is.
The stunning blonde prefers to keep a low-profile, shunning typical Wag behaviour of sharing an extravagant lifestyle on Instagram, for something a little more private.
However, Wechsler and the Argentinian poacher were recently spied enjoying a summer break in the Mallorca.
The two were seen frolicking in the sea and taking pictures on selfie sticks, which showed their love was very much still alive.

Barcelona could transfer Philippe Coutinho to fund deal to bring Neymar back to Camp Nou

Barcelona could transfer Philippe Coutinho to fund deal to bring Neymar back to Camp Nou
Philippe Coutinho is playing for his future at Barcelona, just a year after making a €140 million move from Liverpool, and could be sold in the summer to fund a deal for the player he came in to replace at the Catalan club: Neymar.
Coutinho signed for Barca in January last year and was cup-tied in the Champions League, but he impressed in the second half of the campaign at Camp Nou, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances as Barca won LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.
However, he has found life more difficult in his second season and has started only one of Barca’s last five fixtures: the 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham in December when coach Ernesto Valverde picked a weakened XI with first place in the group already secured.
The 26-year-old, who was signed as an option for the left-forward position vacated by Neymar and also with a view to stepping into Iniesta’s shoes, has not made either position his own and could now make way as Barca plan a sensational summer swoop for his international team-mate.

Punter Wins Outrageous Bet After Predicting City's 9-0 Win, De Bruyne To Score First

Punter Wins Outrageous Bet After Predicting City's 9-0 Win, De Bruyne To Score First
One lucky punter has done the unthinkable and actually predicted the result of Manchester City's 9-0 demolition of Burton Albion in the EFL Cup.
Oh, and that's only one crazy part of this story.
In fact, the punter also predicted that Kevin De Bruyne would open the scoring for Pep Guardiola's men.
With his bet coming in at 375/1, Twitter user Phil placed down a cheeky £21.80 and secured an £8,196.80 return.
Unbelievable, right?

Cristiano Ronaldo: Las Vegas police request DNA sample following rape allegations

Cristiano Ronaldo: Las Vegas police request DNA sample following rape allegations
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid in July 2018
Police in Las Vegas have issued a warrant for a DNA sample from Cristiano Ronaldo as part of their investigation into the rape allegations made against the Juventus forward.
The 33-year-old's lawyer, Peter S. Christiansen, told BBC Sport it was a "very standard request".
The Wall Street Journal says the warrant was recently sent to the court system in Italy.
Ronaldo denies assaulting Kathryn Mayorga at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.
"Mr Ronaldo has always maintained, as he does today, that what occurred in Las Vegas in 2009 was consensual in nature, so it is not surprising that DNA would be present, nor that the police would make this very standard request as part of their investigation," said Christiansen's statement.

NEYMAR SR has insisted rumours that his son is desperate to return to Barcelona are NOT true.
Neymar left the Nou Camp in the summer of 2017 to join French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The Brazil international signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 side, who shelled out £200m to acquire his services.
However, rumours that the striker wants to leave the Parc des Princes began to swirl a little over a year into his blockbuster deal.
In November, it was reported that the 26-year-old is unhappy in the French capital and wants to return to Catalunya.
It was even claimed that his representatives have discussed a potential move back to the Nou Camp with Barca chiefs.

Alvaro Morata could join Barcelona on loan, but only if Denis Suarez joins Arsenal

Alvaro Morata could join Barcelona on loan, but only if Denis Suarez joins Arsenal
ALVARO MORATA could be set for an incredible return to La Liga with Spanish champions Barcelona reportedly the latest team interested in the Chelsea flop.
Morata looks set to leave Chelsea just one season after he arrived from Real Madrid last summer in a deal worth £60million.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona are looking to bolster their attacking line and provide cover for hitman Luis Suarez, who has scored 12 times in 17 league matches this season.
However, Morata’s surprising move back to La Liga hinges on attacking midfielder Denis Suarez moving to London.
Suarez has been subject to interest from Arsenal, though the Gunners are not willing to pay the £10m asking price for the 25-year-old.

Official: Cesc Fabregas joins AS Monaco from Chelsea

Official: Cesc Fabregas joins AS Monaco from Chelsea
Cesc Fabregas has joined AS Monaco on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Chelsea, where he will be coached by former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry.
The Spanish midfielder joins the Ligue 1 side for a fee believed to be between eight and ten million euros.
Fabregas fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Italian manager Maurizio Sarri in the summer, and was keen to move on to get more first-team opportunities.
Key to the move was the fact that Monaco are currently coached by Fabregas' former Gunners teammate Henry, with whom he won the Premier League in 2004.

Ronaldo & Juventus fear key players could miss Manchester United visit

Ronaldo & Juventus fear key players could miss Manchester United visit
Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus face a nervous wait to see if a clutch of key stars will be fit enough for the visit of Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Bianconeri host the Red Devils at the Allianz Stadium with Massimiliano Allegri's side knowing that victory would see them top Group H and secure progression through to the round of 16.
However, they may be forced to tackle Jose Mourinho's visitors without the trio of Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi and Douglas Costa if injuries sustained in Serie A action over the weekend prove worse that initially thought.
Juve ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over Cagliari to keep them in prime position in the chase for the Scudetto once again – but their victory was somewhat soured after the trio needed to be replaced.

Barcelona could make moves for either David Luiz or Laurent Koscielny should current defensive star Samuel Umtiti require surgery on his knee.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona dipping into the market for a new centre in January depends on whether the Frenchman requires further treatment on his knee, and that the club are after a defender with experience to bolster their side during Umtiti's possible absence.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri backs two-goal Alvaro Morata to keep improving

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri backs two-goal Alvaro Morata to keep improving
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri expects Alvaro Morata to keep improving after the striker scored twice in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
The often derided Spain forward now has five goals in his last six Chelsea games, although he will rue spurning a late opportunity for his hat-trick.
Sarri said: “Alvaro improved in the last month. Improved for the confidence, improved for personality, also from the technical point of view.
“Now he’s able to play more with the team. I think also Alvaro has very great physical and technical potential. He can improve more.”
Morata started brilliantly with Chelsea in early 2017-18, but has endured a difficult 2018 calendar year – until lately.
Sarri was reluctant to draw comparisons with former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and says there is room for Morata to improve mentally.
The Italian said: “He’s a little bit fragile, from the mental point of view. He’s very young. He can improve very fast.
“Drogba was one of the best in the world for 10 years. Drogba is a little bit too much, but he has great potential.”
Eden Hazard was back from a three-game absence with a back problem and was utilised off the bench. He provided Morata’s second with his first touch, sending over a free-kick which the striker expertly turned into the net. Pedro then added a third.
Sarri added: “We were very lucky because immediately, the first minute I think, he was able to change our match. Hazard is Hazard, he is able to do it very often.”
An eighth league victory from an 11-game unbeaten start saw Sarri, a 59-year-old former banker, equal Frank Clark’s Premier League record. Clark was undefeated in his first 11 Premier League games with Nottingham Forest in 1994.
Sarri, who replaced Antonio Conte as head coach in July after Chelsea’s fifth-place finish last term, said: “I am very proud to be the coach of this team.
“The record is not a record of the coach, it’s a record of the team.”
The Blues are second, ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and two points behind leaders Manchester City.
“At the beginning we knew very well there was a gap. Last season the gap was 30 points,” Sarri added.
“It’s very difficult to cover 30 points only in six months, but we are trying.”
Palace are now without a win in six league games, despite Andros Townsend’s first goal in 20 league games.
Hodgson said: “I’m always disappointed when we lose, and it’s happened quite a few times. But I can’t be critical of the team’s performance.

Roy Hodgson watched his Palace side lose 3-1 (Adam Davy/PA)
“At 1-1, we had hope. But the free-kick saw them take the lead again and coming back was always going to be difficult.”
After drawing with Arsenal and losing to Chelsea, Palace play Tottenham and Manchester United in their next two games.
Hodgson added: “It doesn’t really matter where you are at Christmas. Last season we were very rarely outside of the relegation zone and we ended up 11th.
“We missed chances. We’ve been a little bit unlucky, we don’t have as many points as we should have. But let’s see where we are after 38 games.
“It’s important to keep going irrespective of what happens in the next few games.”

Antoine Griezmann: I want to retire in MLS

Antoine Griezmann: I want to retire in MLS
Atletico Madrid ace Antoine Griezmann has admitted he would like to end his career in MLS.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed an immensely successful 2018, playing a key role in helping Atletico win last season's Europa League before scoring four goals as France secured the World Cup in Russia.
However, despite being such a key figure at the Wanda Metropolitano, Griezmann already has his sights set on the future.
Speaking to ESPN, Griezmann named his love for NBA and American culture as key reasons behind his future ambitions.
"I want to play in MLS, I'd like to finish my career there," Griezmann said.
